Character Questions:1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?Poppy doesn't have many friends at school, with other students either being jealous of her or bullying her. The person at school she is closest to is Bram Keenmore, who is not a student, but a page that works in the library of the school. And really, he tolerates Poppy more than he is her friend. But he helps her find whatever books she needs, and allows her to take refuge in the library when she has nowhere else to go.
The people she misses the most are her mother and father, who she has not lived with for any extended length of time since she was very young and was first sent away to school. She faithfully sends a portion of her monthly stipend back to them to help with their farm, and the main reason she doesn't just abandon her duties and run off to become an adventurer is because she is afraid that if she does breach the contract, her parents will be punished, and will not be able to make a living or support themselves.
2. What are they most afraid of?Per the above answer, Poppy is most afraid that if she follows her heart and seeks out a life of adventure, her parents will lose their farm or that something even worse will happen to them. She has lived her whole life with this contract hanging over her head, and has never dared to step outside that, because she knows it doesn't just affect her, it also affects her parents' wellbeing and livelihood. The Poppyfield family farm is not the most profitable, and so her parents rely on what portion of her monthly stipend she can send them to live the comfortable life they lead. While she doesn't outright know what will happen if she were to break the contract, just the threat of her parents becoming destitute as a result of (what she considers to be) her selfish desire for freedom and adventure, has been enough to keep her in line.
3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?Emotionally, Poppy is mercurial and headstrong. She changes her mind according to her mood, and her stubborn streak and lack of ability to read the room makes it hard for her to make friends.
Mentally, Poppy is naive. As a wizard, she is very intelligent, but she lacks the experience to be able to put what she has learned to good use. While she is very knowledgeable and intellectual, her real shortcoming is wisdom and "street-smarts."
Physically, Poppy is just overall very weak. Wizards are not trained to be physically strong, as they rely on magic to protect them. She has no idea how to fight or defend herself, and she is quite fragile.
4. What would make them happiest?Poppy would be happiest to be free of the contract that she has been in her whole life, and to be able to live not as someone with "profound potential," but as just another adventurer trying to make their way in the world, fighting monsters and clearing out dungeons. She wants to make a name for herself, not because of her innate ability, but because of her lived accomplishments. If she had been born under normal circumstances, like anyone else, she would not be living with the weight of her destiny hanging over her head.
5. Whatβs their type for a lover?Poppy has been too focused on her studies to really think about romance or intimacy. She wouldn't know how to flirt if you paid her to try. While most teens her age are coming into their own and starting to date each other, having no real social life, Poppy doesn't really have anyone who would want to date her, even if she was interested in them. But, if pressed, she will say that the handsome, charismatic, confident bard of the adventuring group that came to the school did do something to catch her eye and make her heart flutter. She may have developed a bit of a crush on him, but it is only puppy love, as he is both way too old for her and also well out of her league.
