Portentia Poppyfield

All dreamers awake in Visium with a crystal pendant around their neck. It is what they use to store and exchange shards, the local currency.

Poppy's pendant is made of turquoise, in the form of a downturned flower. It has an antique brass chain. She typically wears it tucked into her bodice.

All dreamers awake in Visium with a mysterious potion in one of three colors: scarlet, gold, or cerulean. The potion bottles are labeled only with a note reading, “Drink me.”

Poppy's potion was scarlet, and from it she gained lightning magic. She channels this magic through several D&D lightning-based spells, such as Lightning Lure, Shocking Grasp, and Witch Bolt.

Upon settling in Somnius, Poppy moved into a cottage alongside her friends Aurora (Briar Rose) and Jasmine. The cottage is named for the fact that all three young women have flower-based names. Both Jasmine and Aurora are coincidentally princesses, and so is Belle, who moved in shortly after.

Using shards, the cottage has been upgraded with running water, electricity, a large greenhouse (primarily used by Aurora), and an astronomy tower (used by Poppy for stargazing, and by Jasmine for canoodling with her betrothed, Aladdin).

Regained via shards - January 2023

A green leatherbound tome in which Poppy has copied all of the spells that she knows, using special paper and ink. When Poppy first regained her spellbook, none of her spellcasting ability came with it. Her magic was later regained over the course of several months.

Snow sculpture contest participation prize - January 2023 Poppy's giant apple sculpture came to life, but it did not thrill the judges enough for her to win any actual prizes.

Summoned via the Find Familiar spell - February 2023

Upon regaining the use of her ritual spellcasting, Poppy cast Find Familiar, and conjured up a fey being in the form of a small hedgehog to be her wizard familiar.

In March 2023, Poppy sent Leslie into the labyrinth on her behalf to explore in her place, watching through his eyes. The trip was uneventful, and he wandered through twists and turns for three straight days before reappearing at Poppy's side in the Enchanted Garden.

Exchanged for shards - June 2023

In June, Visium suffered an intense heat wave. The only relief came when a wall was mysteriously torn down, giving dreamers access to a beautiful blue sand beach with a small bamboo forest. Inside the forest were valuable beetles, which dreamers could catch and exchange to villagers for shards.

Poppy caught the most valuable beetle, a gold Hercules beetle.

Wizard's tower magic item - August 2023

In August, the regular village of Somnius was replaced by a village much more resembling one that could be found in Faerûn. The labyrinth turned into a dungeon, and there were Underdark caves found through tunnels leading beneath the village. Jepius, the gnome assistant of a mysterious wizard in a tall stone tower, handed out a magic item to any dreamer who came by to request one.

Poppy's magic item was a large stone ladle, which when stirred through a pot of water, will turn the water into delicious soup. The kind of soup is unpredictable, and changes every time.

Dungeon reward - August 2023

After braving through a dungeon crypt with Aladdin, Poppy was rewarded with a small wooden statue of a pegasus At her command, it can become life-sized, behaving like an ordinary (albeit miniature) pegasus, loyal to Poppy. It can turn back with another command. It does Poppy's bidding, but will not fight for her.

Although the pegasus can fly, it cannot fly over the walls of the labyrinth, and it is too small for Poppy to ride.

Poppy named the pegasus Snowy, after a foal that was born on her parents' farm when she was a child.
